Alison is an alumna of Tompkins Cortland Community College, Empire State College, and Ithaca College holding an MS in Strategic Communication, RYT 200 hour yoga instructor, reiki practitioner, and Cuddlist certifications. She is a skilled communicator who incorporates Reiki blessing in the healing touch of Cuddlist as well as holding a nurturing and inclusive space for Cuddle Party events.
Rawlins began her spiritual teacher’s journey in 2017 with the first initiation and practicum in Heart Path Reiki completed May, 2017. During a retreat later that year, she was inspired to collect wellness experts for her Teaching Ithaca Wellness video series. She has continued working with many of those teachers, and attends regular gatherings for buddhist meditation, body prayer, and healing art workshops of all kinds. Alison is eagerly looking forward to signing up new experts for the next Teaching Ithaca Wellness series to be released in January of 2019.
Rawlins discovered her passion for the listening, sharing space, and ways of being tender with one another which are the fundamental practice of professional cuddling during the spring of 2018 while enrolled in the Radiance Course at Yoga Farm where she also earned her RYT200 certification. Previously she served the Greek Letter community (spring 2015- fall 2017) as a manager of member communications programs for member organizations at Cornell and other universities. Alison is passionate about the particular style of assertive and respectful affirmative consent practice modeled in the Cuddle Party program, and hopes to bring this benefit to young leaders so they can be more successful in achieving both romantic and career goals.
A deeper understanding of one's own being, including the ability to know and articulate your own true desire, is often gained through practicing meditation and yoga. Rawlins hopes to serve the Cornell population by delivering yoga, meditation, and consent education (Cuddle Party) services directly to the lodges of Greek organizations. Meditation, embodiment, and assertive communication are catalysts for successful living for all people, and Alison specializes in leading regular practices for small groups delivered to your location. Location delivered instruction in yoga, meditation, and mindful communication are all available through Toga Yoga.
Alison has enjoyed a long love of artwork and is also inspired to offer Paint Yoga group embodied artistic practices. No current class groups are running in this offering, so please inquire if this notion is of interest to you.
